Hi all – we realise that we are flinging an amazing amount of cool stuff at you in 2012 (there’s sooooo much more to come!) but this is just to remind you to get booked onto the Feb and March workshops ASAP! The next one is on Sunday!

There are still places available on both levels but we need the beginner follows to get cajoling their lead friends.

Anyway, get over to the workshop page on this website and get yourself and/or a friend enrolled!

We’ve been rolling with our new website for a while now and thought that we’d ask for some feedback about how we communicate with you guys (badly, if you heard Al on the mike @ Friday’s Hop the Hall!). So let us know, either in comments on the website or on Facebook what we do well, what you would like to see, what you don’t need. Newsletter or no newsletter? Be nice, but let us know how we can improve our news supply!

Brilliant band night

Thank you to everyone that came to our Jump Session band night last night. Thanks also to the band, the Oxford Classic Jazz Band, who were on cracking form as usual. Also, huge thanks to Nancy and Joel for a Blues Taster at midnight that people have been raving about. We are already busy planning yet more great events for you all, so watch this space (and tell your dancing friends that they need to be at the next Jump Session and Blues afterparty!).

“Musicality? What’s that all about? Find the 1? What are you saying? What’s AABA got to do with it – I thought we were dancing to Swing, not Mamma Mia? Wow, how did they get that break?! 4 bars, 6 count, 8 count, 32 bar structure….quit it with the numbers!”

How do Lindy Hoppers play with the music when dancing? How do you hear that a musical break is about to happen? Come to the Oxford Lindy Hoppers’ workshop on January 22nd 2012 and find out! We will be covering musicality and what this means for swing dancers. Using a mix of music theory and lots of practise, we will be unlocking the secrets of swing and helping you understand the structure and rhythm so that you can start to play with the music. We will show you how to work out when breaks are coming and what you can do in them to make you look cool!

Intermediate level musicality workshop: 10am
Beginner level musicality workshop: 2pm
