Hop the Hall – Friday 1st June

Hop the hall is possibly the friendliest place to dance within a thousand miles of Oxford.  Our monthly social dance is an opportunity for Lindy Hoppers to get together in Oxford, dance and chat. If you’re new to social dancing, this is the perfect place to get out on the floor in a relaxed atmosphere.  It’s fun & informal with tea, cake and great swinging tunes. Pop along at eight for a fun class to warm up!  Feel free to bring a bottle if you fancy a drink after a long week.

Fast Track classes and Swing Fix – Tues nights at the Mitre

Tuesday the 5th of June is bring a friend night at Swing Fix Share!  If you bring a friend who is new to lindy, then you’ll both get in for free!  There will be a FREE taster class from 8:00 til 8:45 (don’t be late ! ) so they can get on the dance-floor right away. A new term of Fast Tracks begins on 17th of June, with a brand new Fast Track 3 at 6.30 and level 1 at 7.30.  These classes are capped at 5 couples, so you’ll receive loads of individual feedback and attention from our expert teachers, for just £60 for the term.  As always, Swing Fix entry is free for Fast Track students.

We’re also announcing the start of an all new Blues drop-in class at 7.30.  With our talented teachers, Anders and Nancy, learn to dance the blues in a casual environment, with no booking required.   For only £8, this includes entrance for Swing Fix.  Also, (deep breath) Blues class will be only £3 for people signed up to Fast Track 3!  Imagine an hour of advanced lindyhop with Vivien and Rachael, followed by an hour of blues and social dancing until 11!  Heaven.

Cowley Cotton Club – Thurs nights

With level 2 classes at 7.30 pm and levels 1 and 3 running at 8.30, this night offers something for all dancers.  But the fun doesn’t end when the class does, as the social dancing continues until 11 pm and icecream at G&Ds afterwards.

Don’t miss a very special CCC on Thurday 28th of June, where we kick off the Oxford Lindy Exchange with guest teachers Sonia Ortega (Spain) and Jay Le Roux (France).  These guys are world class teachers with many dance titles under their belts, so we’re very excited to have them teaching level 1 (8.30) and level 2 (7.30) classes on this night.  All welcome.

This is the Oxford Lindy Hoppers live band night which is run roughly quarterly. Jump Session will be at Sandhills School, Terrett Avenue, OX3 8FN. There is plenty of parking and easy access by bus from Oxford and London. The band will be the Melody Room Jazz Band and once again we will be running the Blues afterparty until 2am. Local dancer Becky Hitch and her lindy hop friends are walking 100km in 30 hours to raise money for charity.  To support her we’re holding a fantastic Swing Dance Raffle at Jump Session on 19th May.  The prizes are all 100% swingin and include a year’s free entrance to Hop the Hall, a term’s free entrance to Cowley Cotton Club….and for budding blues dancers, tickets to London’s hottest blues venues.
