On 12 March 1926 the Savoy Ballroom, birthplace of Lindy Hop, opened it’s doors at 596 Lennox Avenue, Harlem, New York. This year, the Oxford Lindy Exchange is marking 90 years since the opening of this Palace of Swing by bringing the spirit of the Savoy to OLX with our spectacular Saturday Night Battle of the Bands!
OLX 2016 will have more live music than ever, including our big Saturday night Battle of the Bands which will bring the spirit of the Savoy Ballroom to World famous Debating Chamber of the Oxford Union; and we can’t wait any longer to tell you all about it!
Starting our fantastic weekend of live music will be the Melody Room Jazz Band – they’ve played at every Oxford Lindy Exchange and 2016 will be no exception! Friday Night at OLX would not be the same without them!
For our Saturday night we give you…. a Battle of the Bands!
In the red corner… it’s our 2015 Saturday Night Champions – The Down for the Count Swing Orchestra! They brought the house down last year, we’re sure they’ll do it again!
Completing our line up is the other half of our fantastic Battle of the Bands. You loved them in 2014 and we know that you will again!
So, for blue corner welcome back the high energy Swing sound of the amazing Blue Harlem!
Love the blues?
We’ll have our late night Blues Hideaway again this year. Joining us will be the fantastically talented Tom Colborn. We saw him in Cambridge and wanted to bring him to play for the Dark Blues too.
What better way to finish OLX 2016 than an amazing performance Benoit Viellefon and his Orchestra! We love them, and we know you love them too!
Tickets will be on sale from 1 March 2016.
