Sunday Morning Swing is a chance, once a month, to spend a couple of hours in a smaller group to develop your dance technique and creativity. There’s a different theme each time and plenty of stuff for both follows and leads – some of it fairly easy, some quite challenging. And then we go for lunch in the pub.
Is it for me? It is if you’re at level 2 or 3 and have six months or more of regular dancing behind you.
Where? The lovely dance room in the Jericho Community Centre, 33A Canal St, Oxford OX2 6BQ. It has a wood floor, mirrors, and lots of light.
When? The last Sunday of the month, 11am to 1pm (90 min workshop + 30 min dance, roughly).
How much? Bring a fiver.
Who’s teaching? David Gee with occasional guest teachers. If you have any questions, suggestions or requests, email justplaindavid AT gmail.com. Feedback is always welcome too.
1 July. Something completely different: learn partnered French folk dances and import them into your lindy – with David and guest teacher Jo Hamilton. The French are rather good at it – for example, watch https://youtu.be/R6FteMBI5dc.
29 July. Style and creativity: how to find yours and bring them into your dancing – with David and guest teacher Helen Casey from London.
26 August. Swing-outs in depth (tbc)
It’s all a bit of an experiment. If the take-up is good then we’ll carry on through the autumn too.
