OLX 2016 update:
The OLX 2016 schedule is online! Click here for more detail.
The Oxford Lindy Exchange is a weekend-long party, and you’re invited!
It’s about dancing, socialising, making new friends and having fun. There aren’t any classes, workshops or teaching – just loads of parties and sightseeing in our historic city. Oxford has a charm all its own so come and see for yourself!
On 12 March 1926 the Savoy Ballroom, birthplace of Lindy Hop, opened its doors at 596 Lennox Avenue, Harlem, New York. This year, the Oxford Lindy Exchange is marking 90 years since the opening of this Palace of Swing by bringing the spirit of the Savoy to OLX with our spectacular Saturday Night Battle of the Bands!
The 2016 Oxford Lindy Exchange will be our biggest ever with more live music acts than ever for 3 amazing days of dancing!
Starting our fantastic weekend of live music at our Friday welcome dance will be the Melody Room Jazz Band – they’ve played at every Oxford Lindy Exchange and 2016 will be no exception! Friday Night at OLX would not be the same without them!
The centrepiece of OLX 2016 will be our sensational Savoy Ballroom inspired Battle of the Bands taking place in the World famous Debating Chamber of the Oxford Union. Bringing the spirit of the Savoy to Oxford will be our Saturday Night Champions from 2014 and 2015 – Who will your favourite be?
In the red corner will be the fantastic Big Band sound of the Down for the Count Swing Orchestra who brought the house down in 2015. Facing them In the blue corner, we have the high energy Swing of the amazing Blue Harlem! They raised the roof in 2014 and and we’re thrilled to welcome them back!
Love the blues? We’ll have our late night Blues Hideaway again this year. Joining us will be the fantastically talented Tom Colborn. We saw him in Cambridge and wanted to bring him to play for the Dark Blues too.
Finally, what better way to finish OLX 2016 than another amazing performance Benoit Viellefon and his Orchestra! We love them, and we know you love them too!
Explore Oxford with our local guides! We will see buildings associated with the university and its 38 colleges and hear stories of some of the famous individuals who studied here. From Christopher Wren to Bill Clinton, Oxford is teeming with stories of writers, martyrs and scientists. Oxford has more history in a few square miles than most places can boast, so put on your walking shoes and explore.
Lindy Hoppers’ Picnic
Bring some food and something to sit on and join us for a Lindy Picnic. There will be outdoor games, dancing and lots of other fun (hopefully in the sun!).
Coming from out of town? We host lots of dancers at OLX every year. Let us know when you register!
