Hop the Hall
Hop the Hall is our monthly social dance which is held on the first Friday of every month.
It is an opportunity for Lindy Hoppers to get together in Oxford to dance and chat. If you’re new to social dancing, this is the perfect place to get out on the floor in a relaxed atmosphere or listen to some great tunes played by our local DJs and occasional live bands. Informal and fun, with a great floor. Feel free to bring a bottle but please be considerate to fellow dancers.
Hop the Hall LIVE: Every October we organise an event with live music and a taster class. This usually takes place in a different venue so please check under the Events & Workshops tab above for the latest info. Click here for the October 2026 edition.

Hop the Hall is a relaxed informal social for dancers of all abilities!
When: Doors open at 7:50 p.m. DJs from 8:00 to 11:30 p.m.
Price: £7 at the door – only card payments taken, no cash.
Please note the entrance is subject to the venue’s capacity. So get there early.
Where do I find Hop the Hall?
Hop the Hall is at the St Margaret’s Institute, 30 Polstead Road, Oxford OX2 6TN.
If you’re coming from the City Centre, Bus routes 6, 20 and 20a, all run up Woodstock Road (A4144) just get off at Polstead Road. Parking can be found on Polstead Rd at the end closest to Woodstock Rd; Chalfont Rd at the junction with Polstead Rd; and at St Margaret’s Rd at the Kingston Rd end. Always check the parking signs!
